ABOUT VIJAY

Welcome to my biography section. Here I share with you my experience and thoughts on what started me in politics.

I was born on August 30th, 1975 in India, the largest democratic country in the world. My father, who had an interest in the political process, used to quote Winston Churchill to me at an early age, and as such I was raised to understand some of the intricacies of the political process. I found success in the political arena in India as a student leader, but made the decision to immigrate to Canada because I loved what I heard of the culture, the people, and the politics.

On August 22nd, 1999, I came to Canada to build my success in this wonderful country. Since that day, I have experienced the benefits and difficulties of being a first generation Canadian. I found a job in my field of interest (the other being of course, politics!) in Business and Medical Affairs with a leading pharmaceutical corporation in Canada.

After studying the values and beliefs of the political parties in Canada, I found that the Liberal Party of Canada and I shared the same set of values. I became involved in the party, quickly rising up the ranks of my local riding association, and befriending many senior Liberal Party members in the process. As I worked for both the local ethnic organizations, and the Liberal Party, I came to realize how both of these organizations could be beneficial to the other. Please see my platform for more details on this. I also hoped that the Liberal Party would be a link, or more accurately a medium, between various ethnic organizations to bring us together and represent us all.

The four key issues dear to my heart are:

Pro-Democracy
I believe that every human has the right to be heard for the issues that matter to them.
Pro-Globalization

I believe that technology is growing and the world is shrinking, we can be a part of globalization or become obsolete.

Pro-Counter Terrorism
I believe that terrorism eats away at the safety and security that are essential to our civilized world - every effort must be made to release its iron grip over our lives.
Pro-Human Rights
And finally I strongly believe that on the road to achieving greater democracy, to creating jobs through globalization and to ending terrorism, human rights should not be compromised - the lives of innocent people should not become sacrificed on the road to victory.

Strategist, Organizer, Fundraiser, Activist,-all skills that people have associated with my experience. I believe in the motto that “if you will not initiate the change that you want to see, who will!!”

Below, please find a list of some of the organizations to which I have contributed my time.
