Threat from extremist in GTA
September 23, 2008 1:50 pm Canadian PoliticsSo I just recieved a threat from someone who has exposed my home address and home phone number. I just want him/her and any of his supporters to know that I have filed a complain with the police and security at my house will be increased, including protection from law enforcement.
The threat was against my condemnation of the terrorist attack in Pakistan. I assume this guy is a radical from Pakistan living in Canada.
If you think threating people is fun, not in Canada and if you think I am going to get scared of your threats, not me.
Update: Ok, the person called me and it is resolved. Lets say it was a misunderstanding and I strongly beleive in ‘moving on’. So he has removed my home address from his internet postings and I have removed his I.P address from here. Only that I had to change my home phone number and increase security at home 
hey, we never know if these things come from a kid high on kool aid, an emotional rant or a serious threat, we do what we have to protect ourselves.
Iam hoping to meet the guy someday, after all isn’t that the Canadian way. We need to move and live cohesively as a peaceful society. Thanks to all of you who called, emailed and messaged me with your support.

No one should be hounded/harassed/threatened for sharing their views publicly in a democracy. You did the right thing in calling the police. Anyone else who is threatened should do the same.

Good man. While words of support from across the Internet don’t actually mean much for these kinds of situations, you strike me as someone who doesn’t need much support.
I sincerely hope that the person who chose to threaten you is quickly disabused of the notion that he has any support here in Canada. Whether someone approves of what you say or not, violence is never an acceptable response.

Nothing major, but when someone exposes your address and phone number and makes inflamatory comments about you, we dont tolerate those things inCanada. I just want him to know that I am not going to be bullied out by him. Here are the comments he made, edited to protect my privacy by removing my address.
“You are defaming Pakistan, there are 200,000 Pakistani’s in Canada, We know your full name.
Vijay Sappani, and your adress. I have sent it to 200 Pak Canadian discussion groups, and the council of Pakistani Canadian Relations. I am also making sure your name is known in all Mosques because you are spreading dis information about the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Hopefully the 1,000 plus strong Pakistan Lawyers association will look into whether you are committing a crime or violation with regards to your topic of Pakistan. Anyways, I am sure a group of Pakistani’s will want to make know your views of the Pakistani community and will have a chat with you in the future.”

That’s frightening, Vijay. I know it’s probably a frustrated 16 year-old in a basement somewhere, but still, frightening all the same.

From a quick research we did, we know the guy is based in Mississauga and has been active on facebook defending Pakistan and the fanatics there and I have been told that from his postings he doesnt seem to be too young. He is expected to be in his late 20’s.
I dont care what they say, but when someone exposes your home address and claims that he has posted it on over 200 muslims discussion boards, then you dont take a chance with that.
Beyond it, we have to remember that London bombing took place because of home grown terrorists and we can’t take any of these elements lightly.
We just can’t let these chaacters bully us. This is Canada, not some third world country!
