Tools for new immgrants

Last week, I was asked to be a panelist at the IEP conference, where over 1500 delegates attended. Most of them were there looking for a job or looking for advice to help them in the search for it. Most immigrants are good in technical skills, but lack soft skills that are important.

Here are some basic resources that can help immigrants new to Canada.

CASIP is a consortium of Agencies Serving Internationally-trained Persons in the GTA area. It is a good place to start.

Employment Ontario provides resources in addition to CASIP in terms of preparation and bridging programs for immigrants

The Mentoring Partnership is a program that connects immigrants with professionals in their area of interest for mentoring.

One book I recommend people to read is Arrival survival by Nick Noorani who is a well known immigrant advocate. Its a must read for new Canadians

So,If you are new to Canada or know some one who is looking for job, these are good tools to use. Otherwise feel free to contact me and I am happy to help.
